Adult Protective Services is funded through the New Jersey Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services for adults over the age of 18 living in the community who are unable to act in their own best interests due to disability or frailty of age and are in a situation of actual or potential abuse, neglect or exploitation, or who are grossly self-neglecting. Services include the investigation and assessment of referrals to the program, the direct provision, arrangement and/or purchase of services necessary to ameliorate the situation, the ongoing risk assessment and case management of those adults determined to be in need of protection, and the provision of psychiatric medical and legal consultation services where indicated.
